I hope that Borat and his brother Bilo didn’t bet the family’s donkey on this game, Canada destroyed Kazakhstan 15-0yesterday in World Junior action. The game was a cake walk from the beginning as it should’ve been. If Canada’s 15-0 thrashing of Kazakhstan proved anything, it was that perhaps there are too many teams in the world junior hockey tournament. Some would argue that Team Canada shouldn’t be running up the score on a team like Kazakhstan, but unfortunately the International Ice Hockey Federations archaic tie breaker rule is to blame.
Thismerciless beating also proved once again the need for Leafs to secure a top spot in the entry draft, most notably to select John Tavares. The NHL is dominated by young, dynamic and skilled hockey players (something the Leafs are in short supply of). Many of these types of players are on display in this tourney, either on Team Canada or sprinkled about throughout other nations. In fact Canada could be dressing another 8 players on their already talented squad, however those 8 players have already cracked the NHL this season. Judging by the last few outing by the gents wearing the blue and white, the Leafs management and coaching staff must concure.
Arse. Today Canada will be taking on the US. I believe that this will be a very close checking game with lots of penalties. US will get the win. Thoughts.
Hey Laird,
I’m writing this after the fact, SO I THINK CANADA WILL WIN. If only I could make bets all the time after the fact. By all accounts the Canada vs. USA proved to be a classic.
