Round One vs Philadelphia
The Filthy Cryers as they are known to a lot of die-hard Penguins fans, were first up on the Pens’ dance card. This is a team I hate to no end. While most of the NHL has embraced the new style of ebb and flow hockey, this team continues to try to bully you to death. Not so successful for a second straight year vs the Pens’. Six games and Philly was done. Actually not the Penguins best efforts in terms of overall play, but Marc-Andre Fleury stole Game #4 on the road, and the Pens’ came back from a 3-0 deficit in the clincher to win 5-3. The comeback was fuelled by “Superstar” Max Talbot taking on former Pen Dan Carcillo in a game of knuckle chucking, a move that was as successful for Philly as the 80’s TV show Cop Rock! After that the Flyers were dead. Series over.
