I don’t find this tidbit of news out of Boston today to be all that shocking. It would appear that David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez, who helped deliver the Boston Red Sox their first world championship in 86 years in 2004 and a second title in 2007, are among the names on the list of 104 players who tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003, according to the New York Times.
The only thing I find shocking is that the magic eye drops that David Ortiz took earlier in the year (when he was mired in an awful non enhanced slump) may prove to be in actual fact non magic eye drops. Really? How can that be? My faith in the modern world of Optometry has been displaced. I’m sure Optometrist all over North America will be discouraged to hear this.
