I’m a little slow on the uptake my friends. It usually takes me some time to jump in on something popular. I can’t say I do this consciously to avoid to being trendy, but rather I probably do this out of laziness and sheer stupidity. Yes my friends that’s an honest self assessment. Whether it’s in fashion, music or movies I can generally say that I’m a little behind on the curve ball. I was that kid who was wearing parachute pants two years too late. Sad but true.
However my lack of trendy-ness doesn’t affect me when it comes to watching television. In this domain I can usually catch up and be on point. For instance since there’s a lack of quality being produced these days (The Jersey Shore is obviously excluded from this judgement) the First Lady and I have been forced to delve into the high priced world of rented DVD’s. We generally go after the highly recommended (aka seemingly popular) shows.
Just this past year we have watched all of Mad Men and Weeds. Two great shows for many different reasons. I mostly get hooked because of the characters like Don Draper of Mad Men. I find it fascinating when a character is properly developed. Currently the First Lady and I are watching The Wire. Simply put this show is fantastic. The character development in this show is beyond compare. All the characters are flawed in some way which leaves you never really sure of who you’re pulling for.
If you haven’t seen it go out and get it. If you have seen it send me some comments on your thoughts. We are just about to start the final season so don’t comment on that.
Here’s a clip (strong language alert) for the First Lady. This is her new catch phrase. It’s only a matter of time before the Young Squire will squeak out these words.
