There’s probably nothing more irrelevant than discussing the results of a fantasy football draft (especially if you aren’t involved in said draft). However I feel compelled to discuss ce soir’s ARSWALL BOWL XI going on’s nonetheless (after all I am the owner and most days the sole reader of this mediocre land of postings).
Truth be told I started putting my fingers to the keypad last night to start this post and it was meant to be a running diary of boredom and my clever (in my own mind) quips on my competitors and their drafting results in our annual ARSWALL BOWL fantasy draft (which was going down last night). All was set for a night of witty banter, a few adult beverages and random fantasy football talk. As it would be this night didn’t occur exactly the way it supposed to.
I was well prepared for the draft. I had already got the kids to bed, cracked open a few barley and hops and had the First Lady off the scent (she was busy downloading ’90’s r and b cd’s on to the computer…can’t get that 112 Peaches and Cream out of my head now). I was nestled in for an evening of draft dominance. Our league is composed of 12 owners and I was fortunate enough (with no dirty tactics involved) to secure the 2nd spot in the draft. I was keen on selecting Calvin “Megatron” Johnson a WR of the Detroit Lions. I was quite sure that the Turk who had owned the 1st selection would be selecting anybody but the player that I pegged, so I felt pretty secure that I would get the player I wanted.
I was a minute or so away from making my selection when the lights flickered in my basement (where my draft war room was set up) the First Lady’s music went away (I’m pretty sure she was in the midst of downloading some SWV) the fellas’ monitors went out, the television faded to black and with all the electrical gods playing with my emotions so did the laptop and internet connection that I was using for the draft.
There was no turning back from here. I was jettisoned away from the draft room, as was my drafting strategy and my whole season in the ARSWALL BOWL was now left up to the computers rankings. ARSYHOLIKS ANONYMOUS (my team) was in limbo. I was not happy about this situation. I wasn’t able to log in until this morning to see what my squad would be composed of. I was hopeful that it would be okay but alas I think it may be a long year for ARSYHOLIKS ANONYMOUS.
